Two Wholes of a Whole
Practical Principles for Rewarding Relationships
How can we strengthen the feelings of love and intimacy in a relationship while dealing with the challenges that all couples face?
What can we do to improve the quality of our relationship, even without our partner’s cooperation?
Are pain and effort prerequisites for a good relationship, or should it be easy?
Does the success of a relationship depend upon choosing the right partner, or could a simple shift in understanding make all the difference?
Mark Spiro on Relationships: When it comes to marriage and relationships, I’ve got good news and bad news. The bad news is that my experience as a teacher and counselor has convinced me that many couples have misconceptions which often cause unnecessary pain and suffering, and sometimes even lead to divorce. The good news is that regardless of the particular issues they face, most couples can dramatically improve the quality of their relationship simply by gaining a better understanding of how they function. A good relationship certainly requires commitment, but it doesn’t have to be difficult! So whether you’re struggling in a relationship, or simply want to make a good one even better, this paradigm-shifting look at the fundamental principles underlying all human relationships is a must!
Modules:
- The Marriage Mirage: For some couples, the road from hook-up to break-up can be surprisingly short, while for others, marriage seems like a walk in the park. Is compatibility really the issue, or are some of us working from a flawed paradigm?
- The Facts or the Feeling? When it comes to working through disagreements, where we place our focus can make all the difference. Strange as it may sound, perhaps the issues in a relationship aren’t really the issue after all.
- What You Don’t Know Can Help You! Some couples enjoy strong communication and intimacy while others seem to drift apart. Is closeness in a marriage dependent upon how much we know about each other, or do some of us know too much?
